Hello all and welcome to my blog, The Heritage Homesteader!
I’m Babette, daughter, wife, mother and mamaw to the cutest grand kids ever! However, I am also so much more!
I’m a modern day homesteading pioneer, a genealogist who LOVES to solve those hidden family mysteries, an adventurist, DIY’er, blogger, essential oiler, and a loyal friend. I have a great appreciation for anything homemade and homegrown! Oh and SOFTBALL, I am a softball freak!
My family and I live in Northern California on the Lost Coast, in the tall Redwood trees of Humboldt County. Although a continued work in progress, our family home is a two story that my talented husband built with the help from yours truly and our 5 kids!
Mom and dad helped too, they swung hammers, cooked, babysat and of course gave great advise along the way.
A special thanks to our helpful neighbors who came and pitched in for the roof raising party.
We live off grid on 88 acres with all of our crazy pets. My old mare, Honey, our dogs, Marley and Maverick, a house full of chickens (the chicken house, not our house, haha) and Butter, our 7′ albino burmese python.
Thanks for stopping by to check out my blog where you can get tips on the rural way of life. Gardening, preserving foods, recipes, genealogy discoveries and more!!
