It’s Fathers Day and I am feeling grateful for all of the men in my life, from past to present.
On Father’s Day for the last several years (about 14) I have been working hard with the other board members cleaning up from our annual Garberville Rodeo.
Not this year, since 2020 has been put on hold because of the Covid-19 pandemic, the rodeo along with many other events had to be cancelled. I have to tell you though, it feels bittersweet.
The “bitter”, is of course missing the rodeo, the fun time and the visits with all of those I see only once a year, but mostly I am missing my fellow board members. We get together weekly for months to plan and organize the rodeo, so it’s been strange not getting together with all of them this year.
The “sweet” part though, that’s the part I am wanting to share today, it’s the fact that I get to spend time with my dad! Clearing brush, removing trees, weed whacking, and even a trip to the dump, that’s how I will be spending this weekend, work day at dad’s and I am excited about it!
What does your Father’s Day look like?
Whatever you choose to do, I hope you have a great day!
All of the grandfathers before my grandpa’s, Harry and Ike had already passed away by the time I was born, so I didn’t have the fortune of meeting them. However, I have been researching them in my genealogy studies and learning where we all come from. I am very lucky to have been born in the family that I was given!

I’ve been thinking of doing some research myself, before I forget what I do know.lol

Hi Jan, I think it’s a great idea, the sooner the better. I didn’t realize how little I did know until I started researching. Luckily, I have my dad and family members that also like to research and have been able to help me fill in blanks.
