There is just something satisfying about walking through a garden space and seeing all of the different dimensions. You’ve walked through this garden several times before but today, something new catches your eye. Something that you must go home and create in your own space.

I love getting ideas walking through someone else’s garden, or finding DIY’s online, I came across this planter for strawberries while scrolling through Pinterest and decided I had to have one!
Having strawberry jam all winter long is so rewarding, but summertime… let’s talk about strawberries in the summertime! Homemade strawberry ice cream or how bout strawberry shortcake with fresh, sweet cream! Did someone say Strawberry Margarita… um, YES PLEASE!! (this recipe from Tiffany @ Lake Life State Of Mind is AMAZING)!
But also who doesn’t like to just hang out at the strawberry bed and eat when visiting the garden? I know my grand kids sure do! After their visit, I usually have to wait a few days for more berries to ripen, but that’s okay with me… seeing them enjoy fresh berries makes me smile!
Let’s Get To Building
It’s Time to get Sweaty: 🥵
I used 2×8 boards for the bottom tier. It measures 60×60 inches. The next tier was constructed with 2×6 boards and measured 45×45 inches. The next tier was also constructed with 2×6 boards and measured 30×30 inches. I then added a little 2×4 boxed frame to the top to hold the little wishing well, a place where I planted some more strawberry plants and gave the birds a place to bathe.
This planter is very forgiving, you can make it any size you’d like and with whatever materials that you have. I am fortunate that my hubby works at a lumber mill and brings home lots of redwood scraps and seconds.
I used a square to get a straight line but as you can see I didn’t cut my boards at an angle, cuz I haven’t yet learned how. (One of the next things on my very long agenda, learning how to use power tools more confidently. Maybe an up coming blogging post?) I measured each board and marked the center, that is where I placed the corner of the next tier.
Not perfect by any means, but the strawberry plants don’t seem to mind.
